With the second leg coming up at the Etihad, the Magpies will be desperate to take a lead into February.

Manchester City, meanwhile, are enjoying a strong run of results but will be keen to improve their recent record in this competition. Pep Guardiola’s side have not lifted the Carabao Cup since 2021 and will want a positive away result tonight to put themselves in control of the tie.
